SOmetimes we tend to feel a bit under pressure when it comes to not being single and searching for means of hooking up. But sometimes, I often come across folks who say that there's very little romance out in the world today.
Do you think Romance, and being romantic, is going way overrated?

Re: Is Dating Overrated?
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 7:05 PMI don't know many people who enjoy dating for dating's sake. Everyone I know is like me, dating with the ultimate goal of finding a lasting relationship. So dating is not very highly rated at all, in my experience.
But if the question is about romance and relationships, I dunno... that's personal. I do think that people tend to have unrealistic expectations about how happy they will be and how much better their life will be once they're _________ . (married, in love, you fill in the blank.) And perhaps I am among those folks :- ) I know it's what I want, that I want that companion, lover, someone to really partner with. I am pretty functional on my own... I've mostly been single, so I'm certainly not a serial dater/monogamist. I don't think it's a matter of 'not feeling whole' until I have that relationship. I'm pretty damned whole. I just want it.
I also think that a lot of people are clueless as to how to make a relationship work. It is work. Hard. freaking. work. Skills are required. Me, I'd like to think I have those skills.
